ANDAROB VILLAGE, TAJIKISTAN

My name is Sultonbegim. I am 56 years old. I am married and have five children, two sons and three daughters. My husband is a pensioner. I live in Andarob village in the Pamir mountains. Our family has a small plot of land and a few goats, sheep and a cow. Although we don’t have much land we earn a little bit of income from selling the crops we produce. There is no work in the village and that is why I started spinning yarn. When I am free I like to watch TV series, read books and socialize with my women friends. Unfortunately I have some health problems and had to travel to capital Dushanbe for medical treatment. I hope to get better and return to my home village soon.
